Stories + Tools = Change
The 1000 Voices Archive works with filmmaking hubs across the country, identifying films that not only move people, but that have the potential to move people to civic action.
Working with our key launch partners, POV and American Documentary, we couple re-edited shortform vignettes with our action tools to tap the power of films such as the health care documentary Critical Condition by Peabody Award winning director, Roger Weisberg. Through the 1000 Voices Archive platform, we will build dialogues with health leaders and communities to support the film's PBS national airing this year.
Starting in Spring 2008 we will also be working with regional filmmakers, extending their work to new audiences with the help of advocates to create tools, screening venues, and policy dialogues around their films. Shortform series include the ACLU’s compelling 10 Couples, and collections of film shorts such as A Lot in Common, featuring storyteller voices from California.
More Than Just Eyeballs.
Presence in the 1000 Voices Archive can complement a filmmaker’s own website by providing a viewing and activation experience that connects the film across many search terms, issues, and geographic locations.
This brings not only more eyeballs to a film. With tools intentionally designed to elevate and activate our common values, and with our network of highly effective advocates, those films and its storytellers can have long term dialogue and policy impact.
